Building the Infrastructure to Scale a University Initiative

The Padnos/Sarosik Center for Civil Discourse at Grand Valley State University sought to expand its public impact through the launch of a new podcast initiative designed to extend the Center’s mission beyond campus and into broader civic dialogue.

We partnered with the Center to help develop the strategic and fundraising infrastructure needed to support the initiative’s growth and sustainability. This included development of the program framework, philanthropic case for support, communications materials, donor and board outreach tools, and a long-term sustainability strategy. The engagement also included guidance around stakeholder positioning and development of an advisory structure to support community credibility and engagement.

This work equipped the Center with the messaging, fundraising tools, and strategic foundation necessary to pursue philanthropic investment and scale its impact.

Building a Sustainable Fundraising Program Following a Capital Campaign

Following a successful capital campaign and renovation project, the Heritage Museum of Newaygo County faced a new challenge: transitioning from campaign fundraising to a sustainable long-term funding model.

We assessed the organization’s fundraising infrastructure and implemented an annual fundraising strategy. Including the development of an annual fundraising calendar, sponsorship program and outreach strategy, major donor engagement plan, and the creation of a dedicated Director of Development position.

For sustainability, we also guided the hiring and onboarding of the Museum’s first development leader, secured funding for the inaugural year of the position, and equipped the organization with a fundraising framework and tools.

This positioned the Museum for a structured, sustainable, and relationship-centered approach to fundraising beyond the initial capital campaign.

Rebuilding Fundraising Infrastructure During Organizational Transition and Growth

New City Networks engaged Trisector Consulting during a major transition following the dissolution of a national structure that redistributed fundraising and operational responsibilities back to local sites.

We partnered with leadership across both local and global operations to help rebuild and rightsize fundraising infrastructure, grants management systems, and development strategy within this new structure. Our work included grant strategy, grants management, and fundraising system development for New City Kids program locations in both Grand Rapids and Jersey City.

We also provide grant strategy and proposal development support for New City Networks’ broader global expansion efforts. This ongoing work has helped strengthen stability, establish more sustainable fundraising operations, and position the network for continued local and international growth.

What People Say

“Trisector Consulting brought New City Kids to the next level of professionalism, compliance, and clarity. We streamlined our processes and experienced the joy of earning the grant while at the same time creating safe spaces for the times when we don't.”
